Our route and highlights
Day 1
Arrival at the airport of Cape Town. Our meeting point is the seaside resort of Muizenberg, a
surfer’s paradise. Beautiful situated on the Indian Ocean. And for us a great place to start
our trip.
Day 2
By Metro we drive from Muizenberg to Cape Town.
One day in Cape Town – proudly called by its citizens “the most beautiful city of
the world”.
A sightseeing tour with an open-top double-decker bus. During the tour you can leave the bus at
every stop – visit the place you want – and take the next bus (every 20 minutes).
In the afternoon we recommend you a visit of the “Waterfront”. A huge shopping area
with many sights and restaurants, beautiful situated at the marina.
Day 3
We make a tour to the Cape Peninsula and the Cape Peninsula National Park.
The Cape Point. With the rack-railway you drive up to top of the mountain. Enjoy the stunning
view in 360° circle!
The Cape of Good Hope. Most famous spot of South Africa. In fact it is not the southernmost
spot of Africa (this is Cap Alguhas), but the most south-western spot of Africa.
Visit of the colony of penguins near Simons Town. It's a must! From there you walk to
Simons Town – accompanied by the penguins.
Simons Town. Base for the South African Navy. Many people regard this beautiful little town as
the most beautiful on all the Cape Peninsula.
Day 4
Our first real travel day. We pack our bags, store them in the truck and then –
let’s start.
After a short drive, we reach Stellenbosch. This famous little University Town the heart oft
the South African wine-growing area. Some hours we spent here to visit this pearl of the Western
Cape Province.
On our way to our campsite we cross the beautiful Franschkoek Pass. The last few kilometres we
have to take a very smal 4x4 track. From here, high up in the mountains we have a beautiful
sight.
Day 5
To the radioaktive springs at "Warmwaterberg".
Our campsite is on a historical farm. Go swimming in the pool (37°C / 98°F)! At night -
under the stars - a unique experience.
We have our first barbecue - the South African "braii"!

everybody – even for the spectators!

pound).

m high. A guided tour inside the cave.
On gravel roads over the beautiful Swart Mountain Pass into the "Great Karoo" to Beaufort West
- breathtaking landscapes.
Day 8
One night on a historical farm, the former headquarters of the British troops during the times
of the Boer War.
On a walk you can visit the farm and the historical places.
Day 9

newly renovated Open Air Museum – experience Kimberly during the days of the diamond
rush!
Multimedia show in the museum.
“Wonderwerk Cave” – A Bushman cave, rock paintings and one of the
world’s oldest human shelters.
We camp on the grounds of .the cave. A small museum shows us the history of the cave.
Botswana
The country which boasts the most species-rich national parks in of all Africa. We will cross
parts of the Kalahari and meet some of the Bushmen of the area.
We discover the animal kingdom on a three-day Jeep safari with experienced guides. The Moremi Park
is not a big open zoo, like some other parks in Africa. Here, we are in the midst of the
wilderness, camping at a lake with the hippos browsing beside our tents at night and the lions
roaring within a stone’s throw. Not for the faint-hearted.
Day 10
On gravel roads to the border of Botswana.
Camp on the Berrybush farm, surrounded by the vast Kalahari bushveld. A range of walks may be
taken to see wildlife on the farm.

Kalahari-villages with historical background. As soon as we reach Tshane, the deep sandy track is
over and on good paved road we drive to Ghanzi.

the terrace.

Park.
Day 15 – 17
3-day Jeep-safari in the Moremi National Park. The Moremi park is not a big zoo like many other
parks in Africa. Here you are really in the wilderness. We camp near a lake, with hippos coming out
during the night and the lions just a stone’s throw away. Nothing for weak nerves

in the afternoon. Lunch and dinner we have in our base camp.

(optional, approx. 90 US$) or a boat trip into the Okavango Delta (optional, approx. 80 US $)
Day 18
Drive to “Elephant Sands”. A camp and
private concession area, quaintly located between Moremi and Chobe Park. With a small swimming pool
and a beautiful terrace (yes, we get cold beer and coke!) a wonderful place to relax. Nearby to the
terrace there is a illuminated waterhole. If we are lucky, we see elephants just a few meters from
us.
Day 19
Our buffer day.On a travel route over 3.300 km there
could be always unforeseeable delays. To accomplish nevertheless the whole program without time
stress, we have this day in our program. If the journey was without temporal delays, we will spend
this day at the end of our journey in a useful way.
Day 20
We travel to Kasane.
Kasane, Riverfront, a boat trip (3 hours) in the late
afternoon on the Chobe river. Many animals – elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, monkeys and
