This is a fascinating journey from the Victoria Falls / Zambia, through Botswana, the Caprivi-Strip in Namibia and back to Livinstone.- To the most beautiful national parks in Botswana, the Chobe National Park and to the Moremi Park – unspoiled nature as its best! And to the Tsodilo Hills with their thousands of rock drawings. The Tsodillo Hills are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a holy site of the San.

Our route and highlights

Zambia
Day 1
Arrival in Livingstone / Zambia. Most flights from Johannesburg arrive around midday.
Our camp is a beautiful “backpacker” with a wonderful garden (camping) and a swimming pool. (Rooms available)
Day 2
In the morning we visit the Victoria Falls. Here the Zambezi is over 1700 m wide and plunges downward more than 100 m. An unforgettable experience!
After we had visit the falls, we continue to Kasane / Botswana.
Botswana
Day 2
Late in the afternoon we make a boat trip on the Chobe River (3 hours). At this time many animals – elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, apes, and, and, and… come to drink, bathe, argue and fight by the river. Impressive.
Camp at the bank of the Chobe river on a nice camp site.
Day 3
After our breakfast, we travel just 100 kilometres to "Elephant Sands". A camp and private concession area, quaintly located between Moremi and Chobe Park. With a small swimming pool and a beautiful terrace a wonderful place to relax. Nearby to the terrace there is a illuminated waterhole. If we are lucky, we see elephants just a few meters from us!
Day 4
Arrival at "Planet Baobab", our camp near Gweta. Early in the afternoon we arrive in the camp. The most beautiful swimming pool on our trip awaits us. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the pool or the bar. During the next days in the Moremi Park we will not have this luxury.
We will have a nice barbecue late in the afternoon.
Day 5
We continue to Maun, Botswana’s "Safari Capital". After a stop-over in the town we arrive at our campsite. Our campsite is the "Audi Camp" with a good restaurant and a beautiful swimming pool.
Day 6
Rest Day. We prepare the safari into the Moremi Park. You have the opportunity for a flight over the Okavango-Delta (optional approx 90 US $) or a boat trip into the Delta (optional approx 80 US $)
Day 7 - 9
Guided 2 1/2-day jeep safari in the Moremi National Park. The Moremi Park is not just a large open-air zoo like many other parks in Africa. Here we are right out in the bush, camp by a lake with hippos grazing next to the tent at night and the roaring of lions just a stone’s throw away. Not for the faint hearted. From our camp we undertake two excursion a day (with jeeps). The first ,early in the morning and the other in the afternoon. Lunch and dinner we have in our base camp.
In the afternoon of the third day we are back at the Audi camp in Maun.
Day 10
Our next destination are the Tsodilo Hills. They are a holy place for the San people. Several years ago they became a "UNESCO World Heritage Site". Over 4000 rock drawings have been discovered here, several hundred of them can be viewed.
Camp on a camp site near the hills.
Day 11
We visit the most beautiful places and rock paintings in the area. A guide will show us the paintings.
Drotsky's Cabins, a beautiful camp site right at the waterfront of the Okavango.
An excellent river cruise on the Okavango in a motor boat. We will drive nearly 20 kilometres on the Okavango. The "hippo-pool" is the highlight of this excursion.
Namibia
Day 12
Border crossing into Namibia
Travel on to our camp Kwando. Wonderful situated at the Kwando River. An excellent place for relaxing, bathing in the pool, or for a short walk.
Zambia
Day 13
On the road C49 we visit the most beautiful part of the Caprivi-Strip.
Border crossing into Zambia near Katima Mulilo.
We stay in the same backpacker in Livingstone as at the beginning of our trip.
Day 14
Livingstone is a beautiful little town with a colonial touch. Our backpacker is situated just 10 minutes from the town centre. In the morning, we will visit the town and its market. In the afternoon, we can relax at the pool and in the wonderful garden.
Day 15
Departure day. Around noon flight back to Europe (via Lusaka or Johannesburg)
